What a joke baseball has become. Don't know when the idea in teh All-Star game ever became "got to play every player". You don't have to do that. Fans would be more interested in seeing Sammy Sosa bat 4 times then him bat 2 times and Adam Dunn bat 2 times. A good manager would keep some pitchers available in case they go into extra innings (this is baseball, right? they do sometimes play extra innings, right?) and if someone doesn't get into the game that year, oh well.

With interleague play the ASG is just not as interesting or competitive as it once was. If I want to see Sosa get 4 AB I can watch a Cubs game. Winning the game used to mean bragging rights for a year, so managers used to balance playing everyone against winning the game.
It lost it's luster for me when they created a popularity contest by letting the fans pick the players.

Though the ASG was disappointing, I don't have a real problem with the tie. Why? Because it has become just an exhibition game. Not since 1970 (Rose Fosse collision, and extra innings) has there been real excitment.

Note baseball: Solve your labor issues and people will not care about the ASG tie. Millionaire v.s Billionaire gets NO sympathy from the public or marginal fan.
